ST. CLOUD — The Litchfield doubles team of sophomore Alex Draeger and senior Tyson Michels finished in third place in the Class A state boys tennis championship Friday at St. Cloud Tech High School.
In the semifinals, Draeger and Michels were beaten by top-seeded Breck duo Ishan Nadkarni and Zach Piehl, 6-4, 6-2.
In the third-place match against Thief River Falls’ Dylan Hahn and Jack Onkka, Draeger and Michels opened with a first-set. The second set went to a tiebreaker, which went Draeger and Michels’ way as they secured the victory, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
In the state championship match, Nadkarni and Piehl defeated St. Paul Summit School’s Liam Lynch and Luka Shaker-Check, 6-1, 6-0.
In the Class A singles championship, Breck’s Clayton Haberman beat Mound-Westonka’s Jack Linder, 6-1, 6-2.
