Prep cross country: Huhnerkoch, Burgett triumph at Olivia

OLIVIA - Kayla Huhnerkoch, a top 10-ranked runner, won the girls race by 60 seconds over teammate Nicole Bunting, as Redwood Valley won both ends of the BOLD Invitational on Thursday.
Ben Burgett of Community Christian won the boys 5k race in 16:15.
The Community Christian girls were second. On the level terrain of the Olivia Golf Course, the Eagles Elsie Duininck placed third in her first sub-16 run (15:58), the only non-Redwood runner in the top five.
Huhnerkoch, ranked ninth in the most recent Class A coaches’ poll, blazed around the 4k course in 14:38, as the sun emerged after an all-day light rain.
Libby Peters led Benson/KMS to third place with a season-best time of 16:20 (seventh-place). Paynesville’s Andrea Schmitt placed sixth in 16:09.
Jessica Senkyr in eighth and Shania Senkyr in 14th-place led the home-town Warriors.
