ADRIAN - Alaysia Freetly and Kelly Kvaal the ran in the top 10 to lead Lac qui Parle/Dawson-Boyd girls to first place and a trip to the Class A cross country state meet on Nov. 2 in Northfield.
The team placed six runners in the top 20 and all seven in the top 23 to beat out Luverne in a close race by four points, 66-70, in the Section 3A meet run at the country club.
The Montevideo boys placed three runners in the top 12 and qualify for state, but the Thunder Hawks missed out as a team finishing in third. Kurt TeBeest placed fourth, Joe Varpness eighth and Zaccary Enevoldsen 12tth.
Jacob Carroll of Yellow Medicine East finished fifth to advance. John Wagner of LQPV/DB also advanced, finishing 11th, in the 5k.
Freetly took third and Kvaal 10th in the 4k. Also moving on is Claire Sulflow of Montevideo. She placed fifth.

The first eight individuals exclusive of team qualifiers will run at St. Olaf College in Northfield a week from Saturday - girls at 1 p.m., boys at 2 p.m.
