ST. CLOUD - The Willmar boys had just the minimum five runners at the St. Cloud Tech Invite Tuesday. But all of them placed in the top 20, including senior Tom Seifert who won the field of 96 by 8 seconds to guide the Cardinals to the team title.
Seifert’s teammates Nadir Yusuf finished third, Sam Anez seventh, Austin Miley 19th and Ian Thompson 20th. The five times tallied just 50 points, 26 less than runner-up Little Falls.
Not to be outdone, the Willmar girls also claimed the team title after junior Samantha Hanson was first, Jessa Hanson fourth, Sophie Schmitz fifth, Serena Monson ninth, Kayla Rudie 11th and Savannah Anez 16th. The top five runners for the Cardinals accumulated 30 points, while second-place Sartell was far behind at 67.
