WILLMAR - In under five minutes, Willmar left Becker shell-shocked.

Down 6-0 to the visiting Bulldogs at Hodapp Field on Friday night, the Cardinals got their first touchdown on a 10-yard Jake Evans pass from Drey Dirksen at the 8-minute, 26-second mark of the second quarter. That started a string of 35 straight points in the first half for Willmar, including four in a span of 4:48, en route to a 56-18 North Central White district victory.

Following the Evans touchdown, Ty Roelofs intercepted a pass, keeping the ball in Bulldog territory. Ethan Roux responded with a 31-yard run for the first of his three touchdowns on the night. The ensuing Becker drive ended in a turnover when Carter Ochsendorf recovered a fumble for good field position. Evans hauled in another touchdown grab, this time from 20 yards out.

Special teams got in on the act when after a stalled drive, a Bulldogs punt ended up in Alex Wickliff's hands, and the senior speedster weaved through the punt team 72 yards for a touchdown with 3:38 left before halftime.

Willmar got one more touchdown before the break with a 3-yard Roux run to make it a 35-6 halftime lead. Roux also had a 45-yard touchdown in the second half, finishing the night with 130 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Dirksen was 12 of 22 passing for 223 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair to Ryan Slette in the second half. Slette, Evans, Roelofs and Caleb Owens each finished with four catches, with Slette coming up with a team-high 66 receiving yards.

The Willmar defense held Becker (2-5, 2-3 White) to 63 rushing yards on 25 carries while coming up with four turnovers, with two Roelofs interceptions, fumble recoveries from Ochsendorf and Ashton Gregory. Ben Hisken led the way with seven total tackles.

On Wednesday, Willmar (6-1, 4-1 White) closes out the regular season with a home contest with Rocori. The Spartans (1-6, 1-4 White) lost 25-8 to Hutchinson on Friday night.
