Wildcats find fun, down Morris/CA

In New London, Wildcats' head coach Dan Essler urged his team to mellow out and do what it does best against former West Central Conference rival MCA.

"Quit shooting yourself in the foot and play with some emotion and have fun out there." Essler told his team as it faced a one-point deficit at halftime.

That would be the theme as New London Spicer thumped the Tigers 48-30, scoring touchdowns on their three of their next four second-half processions.

Wildcat running back Trey Austvold scored three touchdowns.  On the defensive side of the ball, the Wildcats recovered a fumble and had an

Bulldogs vs. Warriors, Part II

In the season opener, undefeated Paynesville defeated BOLD in Olivia. BOLD hasn't lost since -- Paynesville hasn't, either -- and the Warriors' and Bulldogs' inevitable rematch in the Section 5AA finals came to fruition on Saturday.

The Bulldogs outgunned Eden Valley-Watkins 46-33 on Saturday in Paynesville. BOLD mauled Minnewaska 41-12 in Olivia.

So the teams that met in the season's first game will play in one team's last at 7 p.m. Friday at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.
