West Central

BOLD 17, Minnewaska 7

BOLD was three minutes shy of shutting out Minnewaska, but the Warriors had already posted a couple of touchdowns as the Warriors pocketed a 17-7 West Central Conference win Friday.

The Warriors (1-1) didn’t score on the ground, but 45 carries gained 274 yards and helped Lane Stadther throw 2 touchdowns. The junior fired a 5-yard scoring strike to Trevor Nissen in the second quarter and later hooked up with Riley Kramer for a 9-yard score in the third quarter. Stadther completed 6 passes for 68 yards.

Ben Steffel chewed up a game-high 155 yards on 19 carries and Trent Athmann piled up 105 more yards before suffering an injury.

BOLD’s first points came on Nick Kubesh’s 26-yard field goal in the second quarter.

The Warriors’ defense - highlighted by Max Buchtel’s interception and Ryan Rauenhorst’s fumble recovery - limited Minnewaska (1-1) to 10 first downs and 173 yards of offense. Austin Ostrander accounted for 105 of those yards by completing 9 passes, including a 26-yarder to Jon Nygaard in the fourth quarter that resulted in the Lakers’ lone TD.
