Prep Football Roundup: BOLD cruises into Section 5A semifinals

OLIVIA -- The No. 2-seeded BOLD Warriors breezed into the Section 5A semifinals with a big 47-0 win over Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Tuesday in Olivia.

OLIVIA - The No. 2-seeded BOLD Warriors breezed into the Section 5A semifinals with a big 47-0 win over Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Tuesday in Olivia.

Brad Wolff and Connor Riley each scored twice, with Breckan Ebnet, Austin Einerson and Drew Maher also scoring TDs. Riley finished with a game-high 92 rushing yards on just nine carries.

The Warriors, who held the Cougars to 42 yards offense, led 47-0 at the half. BOLD churned out 364 yards on the ground.

BOLD (6-3) will face No. 3 Wabasso (7-2) at 3 p.m. Saturday in Olivia.

Dawson-Boyd came up just short Tuesday night, as the Blackjacks lost despite scoring 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

Jess Hansen threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort, and Hunter Olsen piled up 106 receiving yards on nine catches. Justin Swenson was also over the century mark with 117 receiving yards.

The Blackjacks were totally bottled up on the ground, finishing with -52 rushing yards, but were able to compensate for most of the game through the air.

Dawson-Boyd finishes the season with a 5-4 record.

Wabasso 50, LQPV 16

The No. 3-seeded Rabbits scampered for 502 yards and scored in each quarter to end Lac qui Parle Valley’s season on Tuesday in the first round of the playoffs.

Lucas Strand picked up 204 yards and a touchdown on the ground behind 23 carries for the Eagles (4-5), but Wabasso (7-2) ran for 343 yards on 55 carries, highlighted by two long scoring runs from former LQPV student Mitchell Fulton.

The Eagles’ other score came from a Peyton Mortensen run. Connor Oie hauled in three catches for 72 yards and Clayton Beck notched a sack for LQPV.

Hillcrest Lutheran Academy pulled away from Hancock in the second half on Tuesday in the opening round.

The Comets put up 29 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters.

Hancock headed into the half leading 12-10 on the strength of two touchdown passes from Kaleb Koehl to Noah Kannegiesser, and looked to be on the verge of an upset. But it was unable to sustain the effort for the second 24 minutes.
