Prep football roundup: Dawson-Boyd pounds LQPV, returns to section finals

DAWSON - Jess Hansen peppered the Lac qui Parle Valley secondary relentlessly Saturday, helping Dawson-Boyd to a 48-0 victory over Lac qui Parle Valley in a Section 5A semifinals game Saturday at R.B. Clay Field in Dawson.
Hansen hit 9 of 12 throws for 297 yards and four touchdowns, and the Blackjacks ground game capped drives set up by long passes to send them back to the section championship game.
The Blackjacks will play Canby at 5 p.m. Friday at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall.
Hansen hit Michael Lee for a 19-yard TD to open the scoring, and Dalton Palmer and Christian Thoen punched in short touchdowns runs for a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.
Hansen then threw three-straight scoring passes to Hunter Olson, Karson Lindblad and Noah Stelter. Lindblad scored the game’s last TD on a 6-yard run in the third quarter.

As usual, the BOLD Warriors methodically wore down an opponent with a dominant running attack and a timely passing game.
This time, Minnewaska took the brunt of the efficient Warriors in the Section 5AA semifinals.
Brad Wolff ran for three touchdowns and caught a Lane Stadther pass for another score as the Warriors won their ninth-straight game, setting up a rematch with the lone team to defeat them this season.
Wolff finished with 88 yards in 15 carries and Ben Steffel picked up 94 yards and scored a TD in the first quarter. Max Buchtel also scored on a 14-yard run.
BOLD improved to 9-1 and plays 10-0 Paynesville in the section championship game at 7 p.m. Friday at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.
Paynesville, which advanced with a 46-33 win over Eden Valley-Watkins, stuck BOLD with its only loss in the season-opener, 32-13.

The Bulldogs topped EVW on Saturday in Paynesville to advance to the Section 5AA title game. They will face BOLD 7 p.m. Friday at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.

Renville County West saw its season end with a section semifinal loss to the powerhouse Flying Dutchmen, ranked No. 10 in the state in 9-man.
Edgerton/Ellsworth piled up 385 yards of offense while holding the Jaguars to 217 yards and sacking quarterback Hayden Johnson six times.
The Dutchmen scored six touchdowns in the first half to open up a 46-13 halftime lead.
Colin Thompson, Brady Holwerda, Alex Villarreal and Jesse Miller scored TDs for the Jaguars, who finished 6-4.
E/E will face No. 3-seed Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday for the section championship.
