RANDOLPH - Renville County West took control early and never let Randolph get closer than two touchdowns as the No. 3-seeded Jaguars won their eighth straight game by doubling up the No. 2 Rockets 28-14 in the Section 2 Nine-Man semifinals on Tuesday.
The Jaguars improved to 8-2 and will take on No. 1 Cleveland (9-1) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Cleveland. Saturday’s trip will cover about 184 miles for RCW after the Jaguars needed 268 miles to return to the high school in Renville on Tuesday.
Hayden Johnson posted another solid game for the Jaguars as the senior quarterback completed 14 of 27 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 101 yards on 21 carries, scored on a 77-yard punt return, and notched a safety and was in on 19 tackles on defense.
Johnson fired a 14-yard scoring strike to Brady Holwerda in the first quarter to give RCW an early 9-0 lead. Johnson then hooked up with Mason Urness late in the second quarter for a 55-yard touchdown. Urness capped the RCW scoring by running 76 yards on the first play of the fourth quarter.
RCW gained 438 yards on 77 plays and picked off Randolph signal-caller David Speight three times. Jon Kronlokken had two interceptions and Spencer Mortensen collected two sacks to ignited the Jaguars’ defense.

Urness and Alex Villarreal both ran for 78 yards, and Urness also hauled in seven catches for 99 yards.

Troy Diggins threw two touchdown passes and he ran for another score as Montevideo won its eighth straight game and advanced to the Section 6AAA championship game.
The Thunder Hawks improved to 9-1 and they play Albany at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Cloud State’s Husky Field.
Diggins threw 21 yards to Bailey Eickhoff for the T-Hawks’ first touchdown in the first quarter, then hit Travis Dreyer on an eight-yard scoring pass to take a 13-0 lead into halftime.
Diggins ran two yards for a third-quarter touchdown that made it 20-0.
Holdingford, the defending Class AA state champion, got on the board when Alex Knapp connected with Blake Patrick on a 94-yard scoring pass with about 11 minutes left in the game.

Holdingford scored against with 1:46 to go, but Montevideo recovered the onside kick and converted a first down to run out the clock.
Reece Kuhlmann carried 19 times for 64 yards and Preston Herfurth had 10 carries for 71 yards.

New London-Spicer’s season ended at the hands of top-seeded Albany, as the Huskies sailed in the Section 6AAA finals on Tuesday.
Kyle Birr and Taylor Fourre each scored two touchdowns for Albany, with Will Kleinschmidt and Tucker Dingmann scoring one each.
Blake Shuck’s 22-yard TD reception in the second quarter was the only scoring the Wildcats managed, as Albany held them to 152 total yards of offense.
The Wildcats end their season with a 5-5 overall record.

Greg Helander ran for 154 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Lakers downed the Mainstreeters in the Section 5AA semifinals on Tuesday.
The Lakers, 8-1, play Paynesville for the section championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s University.
Helander scored on a five-yard run in the first quarter, but the Mainstreeters tied the game 7-7 by halftime.
Helander scored on a 47-yard run in the third quarter and quarterback Michael Gruber threw four yards to Austin VerSteeg for a fourth-quarter TD that put the game out of reach.

The top-ranked Class A team in the state jumped out quickly and never let Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa gain any traction in a Section 4A semifinals game on Tuesday in Minneapolis.
The Polars scored 20 first-quarter points and built a 34-7 lead by halftime.
BBE scored when Ryan Illies connected with Sidney Shacter on a 33-yard scoring play, and Jacob Weller kicked a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
The Polars held the Jaguars to 118 total yards, including no net rushing yards on 30 attempts.
The Jaguars wrapped up their season at 5-5.
