Prep Golf Roundup: Willmar girls finish 10th at section preview

Led by Kessa Mara's 87, Cardinals finish with a score of 400

PELICAN RAPIDS — The Willmar girls golf team got to play at the Section 8AAA preview tournament at Headwaters Golf Club.

Willmar shot a 400 to finish 10th. Alexandria won with a 318. Willmar’s Kessa Mara shot an 87 to finish tied for 14th.

Hannah Boraas of Alexandria was the medalist with a 73.

The Delano boys lead New London-Spicer by two strokes after Day 1 of the Dassel-Cokato Invitational at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.

The Tigers shot a team score of 309, followed by NLS (311) and Mound-Westonka (317).

The Wildcats’ Peyton Coahran was the medalist on Friday after carding an 18-hole score of 71. Teammate Noah Dietz was third with a 73.

Litchfield is in seventh place with 344 and is led by Sam Tipka’s fifth-place round of 76.

The Canby boys won the Lac qui Parle Valley quadrangular at Appleton Golf Club.

The Lancers finished the day with 178, beating Minneota’s 184 and LQPV’s 191.

Taking medalist honors was the Eagles’ Carson Besonen, who carded a nine-hole round of 37, beating Canby’s Jake Wagner by a stroke.
