Prep gymnastics: New London-Spicer defeats Delano

NLS next competes at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at New London’s auxiliary gym.

New London-Spicer won the Wright County Conference meet at Delano.

Wildcats head coach Cindy Jacobson was pleased with the effort.

“We had a much better night,” Jacobson said. “However, Ciera Anderson was taken off of vault, beam and floor because of a sore knee.”

Kamryn Quenemoen won the all-around with a 35.275 score for the Wildcats. She also took first place in the vault (9.05) and the balance beam (9.20).

Melrose beat Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in a West Central Conference meet at Melrose.

Courtney Althaus led the Dutchmen. She won the all-around scoring with a 36.450 and took first on the uneven parallel bars (9.300) and the floor exercise (9.300).

Benson/KMS was led by Libby McGeary and Elise Duncan. McGeary finished second in all-around scoring (35.750) and took second on the bars (9.125). Duncan finished second on the balance beam (8.800).
