GLENWOOD - Two close games for Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Friday didn’t go the Falcons’ way as they fell 6-5 to Eden Valley-Watkins and 15-14 to Osakis to get knocked out of the Section 5A-West playoffs.

The Falcons started the day sporting an 11-5 record after winning their first two playoff games by a combined score of 18-5. The day started well for ACGC, but top-seeded Eden Valley-Watkins outscored ACGC 5-1 in the sixth and seventh innings to win the sub-section title.

The loss dropped the No. 2-seeded Falcons into the loser’s bracket. Again, the game started out well for the Falcons as they bolted out to a 7-3 lead after two innings of play. But an eight-run fourth doomed ACGC and allowed Osakis to stay alive in the playoffs.

Peyton Wilner homered in both games and Sydney Larson supplied seven hits on the day for ACGC.
