ALEXANDRIA -- The Willmar Cardinals were unable to hold onto a 4-2 lead as Alexandria rallied for three runs in the last of the sixth inning en route to a 5-4 Central Lakes Conference victory on Monday.
Alexandria got singles from the bottom three in the lineup for one run before Jess Svyrud drilled a two-out, two-run single to bring in the tying and winning runs.
Willmar got its runs on a sacrifice fly by Sara Kallhoff in the first, a two-run double by Heather Horning in the third and a passed ball with the bases loaded in the top of the sixth for a 4-2 lead.
Willmar (1-2, 1-2) was outhit 8-3 in the errorless game, but collected eight walks off two Alexandria pitchers.
Heather Horning took the loss. She walked three and fanned two. Winning pitcher Taylor Ellingson, who scored the tying run in the sixth, allowed only one hit over the last four innings.

Syvud went 3-for-3 for Alexandria (3-2, 3-2).
Willmar is starting a run of playing 18 games in 19 days.
