BENSON -- Taylor Semler took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Benson/Hancock scored in every inning but the third as the Brave/Owls blanked Yellow Medicine East 6-0 Monday to stay in the hunt for the West Central South Conference title.
With Semler striking out seven and allowing just one hit and leadoff hitter Tasha Wiebold going 4-for-4, Benson/Hancock stayed tied with Minnewaska (13-2) and Paynesville (13-2) for first place in the conference. The Brave/Owls (12-2, 13-3) are at Montevideo today before playing at Minnewaska on Wednesday in the conference finale. Paynesville wraps up its conference schedule today against YME (6-6, 8-8).
Wiebold also scored three times, while Sara Rajewsky and Kendra Schmidgall each had two hits and an RBI.
Jennessa Hoffman beat out a ground ball hit to the shortstop to lead off the seventh to account for YME's only hit.

Paynesville was outhit 10-6, but took advantage of four BOLD errors and six walks.
Whitney Woehler went the route for the win. She walked four and struck out seven.
Woehler, Kayla Lieser and Keely Meagher had two hits each for Paynesville (13-2, 15-3).
