Prep Softball: Dunn earns both wins as KMS sweeps RCW

MURDOCK -- Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg won a pair of games from Renville County West, 4-0 and 17-7, on Thursday to stay in the hunt for the Camden Conference title.

KMS trails MACCRAY by one game in the conference standings. KMS still has a doubleheader with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on May 18, while MACCRAY plays a twin bill with Dawson-Boyd on May 13.

In Game 1, Sam Dunn of KMS and Molly Elliot of RCW each threw four-hitters.

KMS scored all its runs in the top of the first. Erin Haglund highlighted the inning with a two-run single.

Trista Kleinhuizen singled and doubled for RCW.

In the second game, Dunn went 4-for-5, including a two-run homer in a 10-run fourth inning. She also got the win in relief.

Brooke Carlson smacked a two-run homer in the first inning for the Fighting Saints.

Dunn allowed two hits and three runs (one earned) over the final 21/3 innings for the win.
