LONG PRAIRIE -- Carrie Blommel of Long Prairie-Grey Eagle threw a three-hit shutout to beat New London-Spicer 7-0 in West Central North Conference softball Thursday.
Blommel struck out four and walked two. She also had two hits.
The Thunder (6-5, 7-7) scored three runs in the first inning and cruised from there.
The Wildcats (8-4, 9-5) lost the services of pitcher Jessica Rosendahl in the third inning after she was hit in the arm by a line drive.
Alison Ruter came in and pitched through the fifth inning and Amanda Radel had a perfect sixth.

Jenna Moritz went 2-for-3 to lead NLS. Megan Bergeson had the other hit.
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Wildcats.
