MONTEVIDEO - The second time around Montevideo was able to complete the rally in a West Central Conference doubleheader with Morris/Chokio-Alberta Friday.

The Tigers held on to win the opener 4-2, but the hometown Thunder Hawks put together a five-run seventh in Game Two to edge MCA 16-15.

Lauren Reimers smacked a home run, Megan Gillespie drove in two runs with a single and groundout, and Brooke Johnson doubled in a run for the Tigers in Game One. Winning pitcher Kayla Pring blanked the T-Hawks for six innings before allowing an RBI double to Lindsey Olson and an RBI single to Alissa Runia.

The squads then combined to score in a combined 11 at bats and both collected 16 hits in Game Two. MCA took a brief 15-11 lead after Johnson delivered a two-run single in the top half of the seventh. But Alex Tongen’s two-run pinch-hit single in the bottom half capped a wild frame for Montevideo.

Hannah Kuno hit a two-run single of her own earlier in the T-Hawks’ seventh.
