MORRIS - Brooke Gillespie had three RBIs, Bailey Marty scored three times and top-seeded Morris/Chokio-Alberta survived a late New London-Spicer comeback to earn a 7-6 win in Section 3AA softball Tuesday.
Gillespie was the winning pitcher as well, striking out four with two walks.
Down by as many as five runs at one point, the Wildcats scored three times in both the sixth and seventh to nearly pull the upset.
Alyssa Fredrick had three hits and Mya Rohman hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Morris moves onto the winner’s bracket to face Martin County West at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Marshall.
The Wildcats face Jackson County Central in an 11 a.m. loser’s bracket game Saturday.

Lindsay Vagle drove in five runs and the Wildcats scored seven fourth-inning runs to put Canby/Minneota away early in New London-Spicer’s first Section 3AA game on Tuesday.
Mya Rohman and Alyssa Frederick both went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and NLS scored multiple runs in every at bat.
Pitcher Olivia Christopherson struck out eight and scattered four hits in five innings.

Despite trailing by 16 runs after four innings, the Benson/Hancock softball team hung together and mounted an epic comeback, thanks in large part to Minnewaska miscues.
The Brave Owls scored 14 runs in the fifth inning, then added four more in the seventh to defeat the Lakers in a Section 3AA-North game on Tuesday.
The Lakers led 17-1 after four innings but eight errors and a resurgent Brave Owls’ offense sabotaged the lead.
B/H pitcher Addie Forbord was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs batted in, and she worked a complete game to get the win.
The Brave Owls’ Kamri Kalthoff also had three hits and drove in three runs, Grace Lee and Danielle Himley both had two hits and drove in two runs.
Minnewaska’s Bailey Stewart had three hits and drove in two runs, and Ashley Bakko doubled twice and drove in two runs. Mason Schlief tripled and doubled and drove in a run.
The Brave Owls lost to Montevideo 14-9 in Tuesday’s second game and they play Windom Area in the losers’ bracket at 11 a.m. Saturday in Marshall.

The Warriors advanced in the Section 3A-West winners’ bracket with a victory over the Lakers on Tuesday in Olivia.
Morgan Flann, who teamed with Taylor Sagedahl on a no-hitter in the Warriors’ first game on Tuesday, took care of the feat herself in the second game.
She allowed an unearned run and struck out eight.
Lauren Kopel had two hits, including a home run, and she drove in two runs.
Elsa Skeie was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Sagedahl had two hits and two RBIs and Flann had two hits and an RBI.
The Warriors play Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian in the Section 3A winners’ bracket at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Cottonwood.
