GROVE CITY -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Paynesville split a doubleheader in West Central South softball action Thursday.
The Bulldogs, who led the league before Thursday's action, beat the Falcons 5-2 in the opener, but lost to ACGC 3-2 in the second game and fell to second place behind Minnewaska, which beat Montevideo Thursday.
Game One
Paynesville 5, ACGC 2
The Falcons collected eight hits, but could only push across one run in the third and another in the seventh.

Paynesville scored all five runs in the first three innings. Jenn Paul led the way with two doubles and two RBI. Jessica Klein also had two hits.
Whitney Woehler picked up the win, striking out eight and walking three.

The Bulldogs (8-2, 11-2) plated two runs to start the game, but Bethany Nelson gave ACGC (5-5, 6-6) a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first with an RBI double and scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
From there, Jazmin Petersen shut down Paynesville. She allowed two runs on eight hits, struck out six and walked one.
Jasmine Kalkbrenner, Jessica Klein and Taylor Haag had two hits each for the Bulldogs.
