Prep softball roundup: ACGC edges YME 13-12

GROVE CITY -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City's Jacey Nelson circled the sacks in the bottom of the seventh on a hard single and a three-base error to end it 13-12 over Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday at Grove City.

The Sting had tied it 12-all in the top of the inning when Marissa Sneller came home on a wild pitch.

Down 4-1, YME put up 10 runs in the top of the fourth, sending 14 to the plate; five got hits, including a 2-run single by Sam Rigge.

Nelson hurled 3.2 innings of relief for the win. Hannah Wilner and Katie Moore homered for ACGC.

Emily Gass and Paige Larson had two hits, and Morgan Flann twirled a complete game to lead BOLD over Melrose.

Peyton Weis knocked in two runs and Larson scored twice.

The Warriors scored on two singles and an error in the first, and put up a four-spot in the sixth on four hits and an error.

Bayley Pooler doubled in Morgan Majerus and Kacia Kollman before scoring standing up on a misplayed bases-loaded grounder in the sixth inning to invoke the 10-run rule for Minnewaska.

Rachel Bakko had RBI singles in each of her first three at bats and Shanae Suchy added a two-run double for the Lakers, who outhit the visiting Tigers 14-5. Mady Phillips was the beneficiary of the offense, spinning a complete game that featured eight strikeouts and no walks.

Lauren Reimers slugged a solo home run over the fence in the first for Morris/Chokio-Alberta. Brooke Johnson added two singles and Chelsea Ehleringer an RBI.

Paige Forsman slugged two of Dassel-Cokato’s five home runs as the Chargers cranked out 17 hits.

Litchfield got all of its offense in the fourth when Maddy Benson hit a two-run single and Bryanna St. Pierre knocked in a run with a fielder’s choice.

The Dragons got just three innings in against New London-Spicer on Monday and will resume the game Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Litchfield up 4-1 in the fourth. Another game will follow.

The Wildcats scored two in the bottom of the seventh with no out to gain the win after bolting to a 5-1 lead in the first.

Sienna Kampsen ground ball scored Lisa Dobbelaere with the game-winner. Taylor Thunstedt scored the tying run.

Montevideo went up 6-5 on a 3-run sixth. Jessica Janisch 2-run triple tied it up and Alissa Runia followed with a single for a 6-5 lead for the Hawks.

Kelsie Rustad pitched the victory. Monte had 10 hits but she walked only 1 and fanned 6.

Renville County West split a Camden Conference doubleheader with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Tuesday, and the Jaguars will find out their Section 3A playoff seed today.

In Game One, Morgan Zaske had a hit and drove in two runs and Nora Kronlokken also singled and drove in a run.

TMB won despite committing seven errors. The Panthers made 18 errors in the doubleheader.

The Jaguars could play Minnewaska to open the section postseason on Thursday, but the schedule could change depending on the seeding meeting.
