Prep softball roundup: RCW drops twin bill

DANUBE -- Renville County West lost two tough games on Tuesday, falling by a total of three runs in a Camden Conference doubleheader against Lakeview.

DANUBE - Renville County West lost two tough games on Tuesday, falling by a total of three runs in a Camden Conference doubleheader against Lakeview.

In the first game, the Jaguars lost 11-9, falling just short in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Lakeview scored in the bottom of the seventh in game two to take home a 6-5 victory.

 The Jaguars’ Cassidy Fransen was twice a hard-luck loser, allowing just six earned runs, one walk while striking out 11 in the two games.

Lexi Bakker was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in in the first game, and Analisa Zaske and Malerie Thompson both had two hits.

In the second game, Brittany Krogman was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Bakker was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Steph Wersal was 2-for-3.

The Jaguars fell to 2-2 overall. They play Kerkhoven-Murdock, Sunburg on Monday in Murdock.

Eagles split with RTR

The Lac qui Parle Valley softball team split a Camden Conference doubleheader with Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Tuesday, winning game one as the home team but falling in game two in five innings as the visiting team.

Maddie Jensen, Ally Jensen and Sarah Halldorson all had two hits for LQPV in the first game. The Eagles scored six runs in the first inning and tacked on two in the fourth and another in the sixth.

Halldorson picked up the victory.

In game two, Halldorson was 3-for-3 with a triple.

The Eagles are set to play MACCRAY on Thursday in Raymond.

Glencoe-Silver Lake roared out from the start, scoring nine runs in the first three innings and downing the Wildcats in a Wright County Conference game Tuesday in New London.

Lisa Dobbelaere, Taylor Thunstedt, Megan Thorson, Espi Austvold and Alyssa Fredrick had NLS’s hits. Dobbelaere drove in Thunstedt for the Wilcats’ lone run.

The Wildcats are off until traveling to Morris/Chokio-Alberta at 5 p.m. Monday.

Litchfield 8

Litchfield hung around against the Cardinals through five innings on Tuesday but Annandale scored 10 runs in the final two innings to win the Wright County Conference game.

Tasha Stubeda homered, doubled and drove in two runs for the Dragons. Kristen Jones and Grace Spanos were both 2-for-3.

Litchfield fell to 0-2 in the WCC and 0-4 overall. The Dragons play at Maple Lake at 4 p.m. today.
