MADISON - An 11-run inning to open their offense wasn’t enough for the Lac qui Parle Valley Eagles as visiting Ortonville outlasted LQPV 25-24 in extra innings Monday.
The teams played to a 24-24 tie after seven innings before Ortonville got a two-out hit from Shelby Strei in the eighth inning that proved to be the winning play.
The Eagles sent up 15 batters to the plate in the first, which was highlighted by a two-run double from Sarah Halldorson and a two-run single from Ally Jensen. Halldorson earlier had a single that knocked in a run and Taniah Tosel, Jenny Arnold and Kelsea Lund also had RBI singles in the frame.
LQPV got five hits from Halldorson and another four from Lund to outhit the Trojans 25-21. Maddie Jensen, Morgan Croatt, Ally Jensen and Tosel added three hits apiece.
Ally Jensen got hit by a pitch, stole second and moved to third on MaClay Wollschlager’s single before coming home on a Tosel single to tie the game at 24 in the seventh. In the top half of the inning, Ortonville produced its third six-run frame of the game.

Brooke Hemmesch hit a hard shot past third in the eighth inning to drive in the winning run in the Bulldogs’ West Central Conference win over the Mainstreeters on Monday.
Kayla Schaefer had four hits and drove in two runs and also got the win in relief, working two innings and striking out four.
