SAUK RAPIDS - Willmar outscored Central Lakes Conference rival Sauk Rapids 13-9 in a two games Tuesday, but after winning the opener 10-0, the Cardinals’ offense and defense weren’t as effective in the second game, losing 9-3.
“Everyone was continuing to hit the ball well and everyone was on base at least once,” said Willmar coach Shannon Cayler on winning the first game. “Everyone was right on fire on offense and we had an errorless defense.”
When asked about the second game, Cayler started out with, “Well …”
After collecting 10 hits in their win the Cardinals (5-5, 6-8) managed seven hits in the night cap and committed six errors.
Allie Roehl was a combined 5-for-7 in the two games for Willmar, which hosts Rocori for another CLC doubleheader on Thursday starting at 4 p.m. The team will be honoring its seniors and parents that day.

The Storm are now 6-7 in the CLC and 8-6 overall.
Game One
Willmar 10, Sauk Rapids 0
Eight players got at least one hit for Willmar while Heather Horning was flinging zeros in the pitcher’s circle. The senior struck out 10 and gave up three hits and four walks, while doubling twice at the plate to drive in two runs.
Roehl also had two hits and scored twice as Willmar also took advantage of six Sauk Rapids errors.

Leah Ruter supplied Willmar with a two-run single in the fifth and was at the plate when Sauk Rapids made an error in the seventh that allowed Leah Ramon to score.
