Prep Tennis: Lakers improve to 17-1 with win over ’Streeters

SAUK CENTRE -- The West Central Conference champion Minnewaska Lakers continued to roll toward the postseason with a 6-1 victory at Sauk Centre on Thursday.

SAUK CENTRE - The West Central Conference champion Minnewaska Lakers continued to roll toward the postseason with a 6-1 victory at Sauk Centre on Thursday.
The Lakers took all three doubles matches in straight sets and MaKenna Hanson, Myranda Thoen and Karissa LaMont all won their singles matches.
The Lakers improved to 8-0 in the WCC and 17-1 overall.

The Thunder Hawks got the needed four points for a win before darkness forced the dual to be called early. Kiana Anderson and Erica Loose of Montevideo had split the first two sets with their Redwood Valley opponents at 3-doubles before the match ended early due to darkness.
All four of Montevideo’s wins came in straight sets, highlighted by Nikki Erickson/Kendra Wanke winning 6-0 6-1 at 2-doubles.

Wright County Conference tournament
Shanna Kinny placed third at 4-singles and the 1-doubles team of Kennedy Sommerfeld and Kalley Spreiter placed second at the Wright County Conference tournament on Thursday in Orono and Mound.
The 2-doubles team of Grace Spanos and Julia Pyrlik were 3-1 and won the consolation championship.
The Section 5A tournament begins Monday, with team seeding on Sunday.
