MINNEAPOLIS -- Area girls tennis players Ellie Black and Amanda Radel each lost both of their matches at the state Class A meet at Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center Thursday.
Black, a senior from Litchfield, lost to Elena Sullivan of Providence Academy 6-1, 6-0 in the first round, then fell in the consolation bracket to Shauna Jahnz of Pine City, 6-4, 6-2.
Radel, a junior from New London-Spicer, lost to Jessamy Jones of East Grand Forks 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round, then lost to Katie Hanson of St. Peter in the consolation bracket, 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 10-7.
The tournament concludes today with the semifinal and final rounds in both singles and doubles.
In team action Wednesday, Rochester Lourdes won the Class A title and Edina captured the Class AA crown.
