SARTELL -- The Willmar girls tennis team will head into the playoffs on a high note as the Cardinals upended Sartell 5-2 in a Central Lakes Conference dual Friday in the regular-season finale.
Willmar, which won't know until Sunday what seed it will get for the Section 2AA tournament, finished 3-5 in CLC play and ends the regular season at 5-9.
Carrie Boike collected a 6-2, 6-2 win at 1-singles and Sam Bierbaum won 6-3, 6-3 at 3-singles. The Cardinals also swept doubles with Betsy Vomacka-Megan Rudie at No. 1, Haylee Hastad-Alex Linbo at No. 2 and Kassy Linbo-Heather Horning at No. 3 all winning in straight sets.
The team section tournament starts on Tuesday.
