OLIVIA - Four hard-fought games eventually went BOLD’s way Monday as the Warriors bounced back after losing the opening game to beat West Central South Conference leader Paynesville 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.
A balanced attack for the Warriors helped offset Paynesville’s 11 ace serves, five of which came from Ella Johnson. Kiah Morse had 10 kills, Peyton Weis nine and Allison Krause eight for BOLD.
Krause also had three ace serves while Ashley Schmitz had a team-high 18 digs and Keena Steffel four blocks.
Johnson also supplied Paynesville with a match-high 14 kills. Ashley Froelich followed with nine and Sydney Riley added three ace serves and Lexi Skoglund a match-high 27 digs.
Paynesville hosts Benson today and BOLD is off until the quarterfinals of the Section 2A-North playoffs start on Oct. 23. The Warriors are in line to receive a top-four seed in the 11-team sub-section.
