SAUK CENTRE - The Sauk Centre volleyball team scored a convincing victory over Minnewaska on Monday to keep the Mainstreeters’ West Central North Conference race with Melrose tight.
Tayler Pfeffer had nine kills and Becca Weir had eight to lead the Mainstreeters to a 25-16, 26-24, 25-9 victory over the Lakers.
Weir and Mikayla Olson both had two ace blocks and Jill Klaphake had 23 set assists.
Minnewaska’s Ariel Ostrander played well in the loss, finishing with 13 kills. Taylor Amundson had 18 set assists and 12 digs, and Kaylee Glover came away with six kills, two blocks and 14 digs.
Sauk Centre improved to 7-1 in the WCN, a game back of Melrose. The Lakers fell to 0-7 in the conference and 6-9 overall.
