Prep Volleyball Roundup: Benson outlasts Paynesville in 5

PAYNESVILLE -- Benson senior outside hitter Shyanne Himley pegged 11 kills and Krista Motzko 8 more as the Braves won a marathon in the Paynesville gym Tuesday, 26-24 25-21 15-25 17-25 15-11.

After going down 0-2, the Bulldogs commanded the next two games but the visitors snapped too again to win the decider 15-11. Shaleah Schmidt served 24 times with one error and five aces.

Paynesville’s Ashley Froelich had 10 kills, Allie Stanger had 9 and Ella Johnson had 8. Sydney Riley served four aces and had 21 set assists.

Emily Goerdt had 11 kills, served three aces, had a block and seven digs. Mattie Meyer served five aces and had nine kills.

Ariel Ostrander paced the Lakers with seven kills, three ace blocks and 12 digs.

The Sting had a struggle on their hands after an easy Game 1 victory but they prevailed over the Falcons in three on Tuesday in Granite Falls.
