ST. CLOUD - Willmar won its fourth-straight match, easing past Central Lakes Conference opponent St. Cloud Apollo in three games on Thursday at Apollo High School.
The Cards won 25-17, 25-9 and 25-18 to improve to 4-0 in the CLC and 7-2 overall.
The Cardinals weren’t as sharp as they have been in recent matches but they adjusted, said Cardinals head coach Traci Grussing. “Our passing wasn’t as good as it has been,” she said, “but we made up for it on defense and we hit well.”
Leah Ruter finished with 14 kills and 11 digs and Dani Rosen had 9 and also 4 blocks. Riley Grussing was perfect on 63 sets and had 30 assists.
The Cardinals have almost a week off before playing host to Alexandria on Thursday at Willmar High School.
