MINNEOTA - The Central Minnesota Christian School volleyball team regularly puts together solid seasons. Sometimes great seasons.
But Minneota has been the one problem they haven’t been able to solve.
Until Thursday night.
The Bluejays rolled out their best match of the season and swept out the Vikings in three games, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18.
“We had a really specific game plan and they couldn’t have played better,” said Bluejays’ head coach Terrin DeBoer. “They all played their rol and all did their job.”
Lexi Scott was spectacular, with 30-for-30 hitting and 19 kills. She also blocked nine shots and had 10 digs.
The Bluejays hit .493, with just three hitting errors in 69 attacks.
Minneota star Taylor Reiss had 20 kills but no other Viking had more than six.
“Our goal was to get Taylor through the front row as quickly as possible and keep Lexi on the front row as long as possible,” DeBoer said.
The Bluejays won three Class A state champioships from 1998 to 2000, and they won at Minneota in five games in the 2001 season. But that’s the last time the Bluejays defeated Minneota in their last 17 conference meetings and the last time they won in Minneota.
“It was awesome,” DeBoer said.
The Bluejays are now 6-1 in the Camden Conference, a half-game behind the Vikings. CMCS is 14-3 overall heading into Saturday’s Willmar Invitational.
