Prep volleyball roundup: NLS tops Annandale in four

NEW LONDON -- New London-Spicer won its first Wright County Conference match of the season in style, knocking off 10-win Annandale in four games on Thursday at NLS High School.

The Wildcats dropped Game Three but won 25-22, 25-16, 21-25 and 25-19.
Kabrie Weber led the Wildcats with 15 kills and she also was in on 3.5 blocks.
Lindsay Vagle served three aces and came through with 11 kills, Brennan Bergh had seven kills and Erin Tebben had six.
Tebbin was in on 2.5 blocks, Megan Thorson finished with 1.5 and Bergh had one, as the Wildcats had 8.5 blocks overall.
Espi Austvold had 39 set assists to go along with two kills and a service ace.
Carley Cronen led the Wildcats with 20 digs and she also served an ace.
The Wildcats are 6-3 overall and play in the Minnewaska Invitational on Saturday against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Brandon-Evansville and Minnewaska.

The teams both needed extra points to split the first two games, both won handily in splitting games three and four, and the Falcons edged out a 15-13 victory in the deciding game.
The Falcons’ Kendra Miller and Taryn Reinke both had six kills.
Benson’s Sophie Ascheman played a strong match with 17 kills, two service aces and two blocks.
Presley Gonnerman had eight kills and Kelsey Peterson finished with seven. Peterson also had 21 digs and Addie Forbord and Courtney McNeill combined for 37 set assists.

Morris/CA, which was tied with Sauk Centre in first in the WCC, improved to 5-0 in the league and the Tigers are 6-0 overall.
They play in the Hawley Invitational Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Tigers’ Brooke Gillespie and Lindsey Dierks both had six kills and Gillespie had a block and 10 digs.
