MARSHALL — One of the most successful volleyball seasons in school history came to an end Saturday night for the Paynesville Bulldogs .
Paynesville lost to Jackson County Central in the Section 3AA championship at the R/A Facility at Southwest Minnesota State University.
JCC beat the Bulldogs 25-27, 25-17, 10-25, 26-24, 15-10.
Paynesville was the top seed in 3AA-North. Jackson County Central was the top seed in 3AA-South.
Paynesville has never qualified for state in volleyball. Jackson County Central has two previous state appearances, in 1999 and 2003. In both years, the Huskies won the state Class AA title.

Breckendridge earned its first trip tot the state tournament in 41 years by edging Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in the Section 6A championship at Fergus Falls.
The Cowgirls beat the Jaguars 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 18-16
BBE was the top seed in 6A-South. Breckenridge was the top seed in 6A-North.
Breckenridge has been to state four times, the last in 1980 when it took second in Class A. The Cowgirls also qualified in 1975, ‘76 and ‘78.
BBE has been to state six times. The last was 2019. The Jaguars also made it in ‘05, 07, ‘08, ‘10 and ‘18. There was no state tournament in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
