WILLMAR - St. Cloud Tech outplayed the Willmar Cardinals on Thursday night, handing the Cardinals their fourth straight Central Lakes setback.
The Cardinals led Game 1 20-18 but the Tigers took 7 of the next 8 points. Willmar came back nicely in Game 2 to win by four points, but Tech ruled the rest of the way 25-14, 25-18.
It was “Dig Pink Night,” a fundraiser for the Willmar Cancer Center with many fans, especially the student section, wearing pink.
The two teams were near tied in the standings going in but Tech (6-4, 7-9) now is in fourth place while Willmar drops back to fifth at 4-6 and 11-10-1.
Leah Ruter led Willmar at the net with 14 kills followed by Dani Rosen with 9 and Tia Erickson and Jennie Magnuson 7 apiece.
