WAYZATA -- Ten Willmar wrestlers qualified for the Minnesota State High School Wrestling Tournament by placing first or second in their weight classes at Saturday's Section 6AAA individual tournament at Wayzata High School.
The Cardinals, as a team, will compete in the state meet after winning the 6AAA championship for a fourth-straight year last weekend. Willmar, 27-0 and seeded third in Class AAA, will wrestle Centennial (18-7) at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
On Saturday, Clay Carlson (113), Juan Resendez (120), Estevan Navarro (145), Colten Carlson (152), Travis Deegan (160), Vaughn Johnson (182) and Brady Reigstad (285) all earned 6AAA championships and state tournament spots.
Israel Navarro was second at 106, Logan Walkow finished second at 132 and Matt Hennes also placed second at 220 to all lock down a state tournament berths..
Auggie Hahn fell just short of a state berth, finishing third at 195.
