ALEXANDRIA -- Willmar, the No. 5 seed in the Section 8AAA wrestling tournament, upset No. 4 Moorhead 36-31 in the quarterfinals before being ousted by top-seeded St. Cloud Apollo 45-26 on Saturday.
Willmar finishes the season 7-10. The individual portion of the tournament is Friday and Saturday in Bemidji.
St. Cloud Apollo drubbed Brainerd 43-24 in the championship to advance to the state tournament.

Nathan Mittag started things off for Willmar with a 26-second pin at 103 pounds. Austin Miley then won by forfeit and Alex Johannes and Seth Pollock followed with decisions for an 18-0 Cardinal lead.
Moorhead sandwiched a pair of pins around Adam Fagerstrom's decision for Willmar at 135.

The Cardinals extended their lead to 27-12 with a pin by Coty Milhausen at 145 pounds.
Nathanial Swoyer iced the match with a pin at 171. Taylor Neumann added a decision at 189 for the Cardinals.
