Prep wrestling: Cards cap perfect CLC duals season

SARTELL - Willmar punished Sartell 57-10 Thursday to cap a perfect 8-0 record in Central Lakes Conference duals for the second straight season.
The Cardinals never trailed against the Sabres and got pins from Juan Resendez at 120, Colten Carlson at 152 and Vaughn Johnson at 182, and technical falls from Lincoln Shinn at 126 and Logan Walkow at 132 to improve to 24-0 in duals this season.
Willmar, ranked No. 3 in Class AAA and the overwhelming favorite to win the Section 6 team title, also had Israel Navarro at 106 and Travis Deegan at 160 notch major decisions, and Estevan Navarro at 145, Darius O’Neill at 170 and Matt Hennes at 220 earn decisions. Willmar wrestlers finished the CLC season going a combined 94-18.
The Cardinals are off until the section team meet on Feb. 14 at Minnetonka High School. Willmar has been crowned the section champions the last three years.
