KERKHOVEN - The Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg wrestling team eased into the Section 3A semifinals with a 49-12 victory over Canby on Thursday at KMS High School.
Dylan Rudningen got the rout started with a pin at 1:04 of the 106-pound match and the Saints would tack on four more pins, a major decision and five decisions.
The Saints, the section’s No. 4 seed, wrestles top-seed Minneota at 1 p.m. Saturday in Redwood Falls. The Vikings advanced with a 71-6 victory over Benson on Thursday in Minneota.
Canby’s Justin Merritt won by pin at 113 to briefly tie Thursday’s match. After that, it was all KMS.
Jonathan Tostenson won by fall at 120, Caleb Collins (126) and Derek Kreiger (132) both earned decisions, and Nick Meyer (138) and Jordan Engler (150) sandwiched pins around Wyatt Jones’ decision at 145 to give the Saints a 34-6 lead before the Lancers scored their next points.
Zach Carlson moved up to win by fall at 195 pounds, and David Gordon (170), Karter Van Heuveln (220) and Colton Kinney (285) racked up decisions.
