Prep Wrestling: Top-seed Willmar to defend section title Saturday

The Willmar wrestling team is the No. 1 seed for this weekend’s Section 8AAA championships.

The Cardinals will be defending its section championship when the 2019 meet begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Little Falls.

Bemidji secured the No. 2 seed and will wrestle at noon against the winner of a 10:30 a.m. quarterfinals match between No. 7 Little Falls and No. 10 Rocori.

No. 9 Moorhead and No. 8 Alexandria also square off at 10:30 a.m. That winner wrestles Willmar at noon.

In 1:30 p.m. matches, No. 3 seed Brainerd will face No. 6 St. Cloud Tech and No. 4 Sartell wrestles No. 5 Sauk Rapids.

Semifinals begin at 3 p.m. and the final begins at 4:30 p.m.
