Amateur baseball roundup: Granite Falls knocks off Willmar in extras

Amateur baseball report for Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in west central Minnesota. Kilowatts come back to get 10-8 win in Corn Belt League play

WILLMAR — The Granite Falls Kilowatts came back from a 7-3 deficit to bring Wednesday’s Corn Belt League game with the Willmar Rails into extra innings.

From there, Granite Falls put up three runs in the top of the 10th to get the 10-8 win at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar.

The game-tying run came in when Adam Brewers reached home on a wild pitch. Then in the 10th, a Bennett Knapper double, a Cole Fischer single and a Dylan Lindstrom single all drove in runs. Knapper led the Kilowatts’ offense, going 3-for-6.

Caleb Jans picked up the win after throwing four innings of relief.

Wade Fischer was 4-for-5 at the plate for Willmar. He had a double to go with two RBIs and a run scored. Ashton Gregory had a pair of hits, two RBIs and a run for Willmar.

Sacred Heart 10, Dawson 2

The Sacred Heart Saints pieced together 13 hits in an exhibition victory against the Dawson Drakes at Sacred Heart.

Tyler Froland led the Saints’ offense, going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and three runs. Ryan Hebrink finished 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Brandan Hoberg and Jeremy Hinderks each had two hits for Sacred Heart.

Ayden Gustafson picked up the win, striking out 11 over seven innings of work.

Braden Thompson went 2-for-4 for Dawson. Easton Antony scored a run while Braxton Thompson had an RBI for the Drakes.
