WILLMAR — The Milroy Yankees got dominant pitching and good hitting to beat the Willmar Rails 10-0 in seven innings Sunday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Milroy’s Isaac Schmidt allowed one hit on the mound, striking out nine and walking four.

The Yankees Branden Flock went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI. Cole Felcyn was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Jackson Hughes was 2-for-3 with a run.

For Willmar, Jordan Steffer was 1-for-3 with a double.

Willmar is now 0-1 in the Corn Belt League and 1-1 overall. The Rails are host to the Granite City Kilowatts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Raymond 4, Marshall 3

The Rockets picked up the Corn Belt League victory at Legion Field in Marshall by scoring twice in the first inning and two more times in the fourth.

Mike Jeseritz led the offense by going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Brady Kienitz was 2-for-4 with a stolen base. John Sawatzky was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Rockets. He also got the pitching win, starting and going five innings. He allowed five hits, two earned runs and two walks, striking out three. Alex Lotthammer then pitched the next 3-1/3, allowing three hits and one unearned run. He struck out five without a walk. Caleb Dittmarson then came on to the save, striking out the two batters he faced.

Joe Rock went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and an RBI for the A’s..

Bird Island used 12 hits and 12 walks to beat Wabasso at Bird Island.

Casey Lewandowski got the pitching win for the Bullfrogs, going five innings. He struck out 10 and walked no one, allowing two hits and one earned run.

Aidan Elfering was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Bird Island. Shawn Dollerschell was 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI and Zeke Walton was 2-for-3.

Sacred Heart evened its Corn Belt League record to 1-1 with the victory over the Tracy Engineers at Tracy.

The Saints lost 11-6 to the Wabasso Jaxx in their season-opener on Friday.

New London-Spicer 4, Paynesville 3

New London-Spicer rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Paynesville at Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer.

The Pirates had taken a 3-1 lead in the top of the seventh by plating three runs.

For the Twins, Josh Saine went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Adam Schrader got the win in relief, going 2-1/3 scoreless innings. He struck out three, walked one and allowed one hit.

For Paynesville, Blake Vagle, Luke Johnson, Garrett Leusink and Abe Bullard all had hits.

Austin Ver Steeg and Matt Gruber combined for a two-hitter to lead Starbuck past Regal at Glenwood.

Ver Steeg went the first five innings, allowing one hit and one earned run. He struck out eight and walked four to get the win. Gruber went the final four innings. He struck out four and walked no one, allowing one hit. He also went 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI for the Bucks.

Up 6-2 after five innings, the Benson Plowboys were able to hang on for a Land O’Ducks League victory over the Chokio Coyotes at Benson.

Sam Lenarz hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first for Benson. He finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Lenarz also got the victory with six strikeouts over five innings.

Jaxon Nickels went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI and got the save after tossing a scoreless eighth and ninth.

The Willmar Rails’ offense scored five runs in the bottom of the first and second innings on the way to a season-opening victory against the Montrose-Waverly Stingers at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar.

Wade Fischer was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for Willmar. Jayden Dierenfeld hit a three-run home run in the third inning, finishing 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs. Ashton Gregory and Jordan Steffer each had two hits for the Rails.

Steffer also got credit for the win after tossing two scoreless innings in relief of starter Jack Baumgart.
