PAYNESVILLE — The Paynesville Pirates scored twice in the seventh inning to nip the New London-Spicer Twins 2-1 in a County Line League game Wednesday night.

Luke Johnson hit a two-run homer for the Pirates. Garrett Luesink and Grady Fuchs were each 3-for-4 for Paynesville.

Ben Kulset was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and Jett Salonek was 1-for-3 with a double, a run and a stolen base for the Twins.

The Raymond Rockets lost an exhibition game to the Cold Spring Springers at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.


Cold Spring is a Class B state power. Raymond is a Class C team with a 5-0 record in the Corn Belt League.

Jordan Barth went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI and B.J. Huls was 3-for-4 with three runs for the Springers.

Paxton Nelson went 3-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base for Raymond.
