Game 2: Willmar 10, Marshall 4

Willmar used 12 hits to carry it to a win in the nightcap against Marshall at Legion Field in Marshall.

“We had a lot of contributions throughout our lineup,” said Cardinals head coach Tom DeBoer. “Connor Owens and Carter Schow in Game 1, then Carter in Game 2. Then it was the usual suspects after that.”

Schow was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in Game 2. Cayden Hansen finished 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, Ian Koosman was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Brandt Sunder had two hits and two runs.

Hansen capped off a strong night on the mound with seven strikeouts over five innings to get the win. He allowed just three hits and no walks.

“It was chilly tonight but our pitchers were dialed in,” DeBoer said. “Between the two games, we had only two walks and no errors. When you don’t give up free bases, you don’t lose many games.”

The Cardinals play host to Sartell on Tuesday and Rocori on Thursday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts at Bill Taunton Stadium.
