WATERTOWN — New London-Spicer and Watertown-Mayer split a Wright County Conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to take Game 1, 11-6.
In Game 2, the Royals used their own big inning, scoring five in the top of the sixth, for a 9-2 victory.
In the opener, NLS’ Bennett Schultz went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBis and a pair of runs scored. Then in the nightcap, Luke Knudsen led the Wildcats’ offense, finishing 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
NLS is back on the road at 4:30 p.m. Friday to play Minnewaska in a non-conference tilt.

Litchfield got its first two Wright County Conference wins after sweeping Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted at Litchfield’s Optimist Park.
In the opener, the Dragons held the Lakers to two hits. Caden Besemer was the winning pitcher, striking out six with one walk in a complete game.
Anthony Estrada paced Litchfield’s offense in Game 2, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Ashton Sullivan scored three runs in the victory.

Central Minnesota Christian’s Ethan Bulthuis struck out 10 in a complete-game win and drove in a pair of runs in the Bluejays’ five-inning win over Renville County West at Sacred Heart.

Zimmer tossed the first four innings, striking out nine with three hits and one walk allowed. Engelke struck out the side in an inning of work.
