Cardinals take four first-place finishes in meet with Sartell

WILLMAR — The Willmar boys swimming and diving team earned three first-place individual finishes and won one relay in a dual meet with Sartell on Thursday.

Sartell won the meet, Willmar’s final home meet of the season, 109-76.

Earning first-place finishes for the Cardinals were Colin O’Farrell, Luke Lammers and Kale Bockelman.

O’Farrell won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.48 seconds. Lammers, also a senior, finished the 50 free in 23.90.

The Cardinals also won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.45. The team of Aidan O’Meara, David Lammers, Luke Lammers and O’Farrell edged second-place Sartell by .09 seconds.

“(There were) many good swims for the guys,” Willmar head coach Carl Shuldes said. “(The) score doesn’t show it, but there were a lot of very close races.

Bockelman, a junior, won the diving competition with a score of 222.45 points.

Sartell has a 4-2 Central Lakes Conference dual meet record and is 7-3 overall. Willmar is 1-6 in the CLC and 1-7 overall.

Willmar competes in the CLC championships at 10 a.m. Feb. 12 at St. Cloud Tech High School.
