ROCHESTER— The Ridgewater College softball team dropped a doubleheader to Rochester Technical & Community College on Saturday.
The Warriors fell 13-5 and 15-6.
Big innings doomed Ridgewater. In the first game, Ridgewater led 5-2 going into the bottom of the sixth when the Yellowjackets scored 11 runs. In the second game, the Warriors built a 6-2 early lead before Rochester scored 10 runs in the fourth.
Both games were played at the Rochester Regional Sports Center’s dome field.
“Right now, we’re just waiting to get a full, healthy team,” said Ridgewater coach Datriana Jensen, whose team fell to 0-5. “We had a couple girls gone. That hurt us.”

In the first game, Angie Weller hit her first career home run and drove in two for the Warriors. She is a freshman from New York Mills. Tayler Schmidt, a freshman from Paynesville, was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.
In the second game, Zola Olson hit an inside-the-park home run for Ridgewater. She’s a freshman from Montevideo.
Errors hurt the Warriors as well. Ridgewater made six errors in each game.
Ridgewater (0-5) plays a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
