College softball: Ridgewater gets swept by St. Cloud Technical & Community College

College softball report for Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in west central Minnesota. Warriors fall to Cyclones 23-2 and 12-7.

WILLMAR — The Ridgewater softball team dropped a doubleheader with St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Tuesday at Willmar.

In Game 2, the Cyclones used an eight-run first inning, then held on to beat the Warriors, 12-7. That came after St. Cloud beat Ridgewater 23-2 in five innings.

“Angie (Weller) and Hallie (Redding) had really good games today,” Ridgewater head coach Datri Jensen said. “Playing in the cold is really hard.”

Angie Weller was 3-for-4 with two runs, a double, an RBI and a stolen base. She’s a freshman from New York Mills. Redding was 2-for-4 with a run. She’s a freshman from Glencoe-Silver Lake.

Ridgewater (0-7) plays a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday in Fergus Falls against Minnesota State Community & Technical College. It begins a string of 12 games in six days, weather permitting.

Kamile Dougherty hit her second home run of the day to help St. Cloud Technical & Community College beat Ridgewater in five innings at Willmar.

Angie Weller, Brooke Edlund, Hannah Fischer, Hallie Redding and Tayler Schmidt all had hits for Ridgewater.
