Cross-Country: YME competes at Marshall Invitational

Sting girls take 10th in cross-country meet at Marshall Golf Course

MARSHALL — The Yellow Medicine East cross-country team competed Tuesday in the Marshall Invitational at the Marshall Golf Course.

YME’s girls finished 10th of 10 teams. The Sting’s boys ran two athletes in the varsity event.

In the girls’ division, Marshall took home the team title with 37 points. Amanda Overgaauw of Martin County Central/Fulda took home first place in a time of 17 minutes, 37.5 seconds.

YME’s top finisher was Sanjana Pullan. The senior finished 22nd with a time of 23:30.5.

In the boys’ race, Worthington won with 42 points.

Mikele Walu of Worthington took first overall with a time of 16:22.8.

YME’s top runner was Dylan Castillo, who placed 50th in 20:44.3.

The Sting’s next meet is 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Stoney Creek Golf Course in Renville. That’s where the MACCRAY/Renville County West Invitational takes place.
