Dance team: Minnewaska is headed to state

Team captures Jazz Division title at the Section 4A championships Saturday in Wadena. Minnewaska also takes third in High Kick Division.

WADENA — The Minnewaska dance team is headed to the state meet after taking first place in Jazz and third place in High Kick on Saturday in the Section 4A championships at Wadena-Deer Creek High School.

Minnewaska scored seven team-rank points in Jazz to edge second-place Crosby-Ironton, which had a 7.5, and Frazee, which scored nine. All three are headed to the state meet Feb. 19 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

In High Kick, Crosby-Ironton took first with four points, followed by Bagley’s 9 and Minnewaska’s 10. All three teams are headed to state.

Section 3AA

Orono, Mound-Westonka and Holy Family are headed to state in Jazz and Mound-Westonka, Delano and Orono are on their way in High Kick after the Section 3AA championships at Mound.

Willmar finished ninth in Jazz and tied for eighth with Rockford in High Kick.

The state Class AA tournament is Feb. 19 at Target Center in Minneapolis.
